+ The Introit
You o|pen your hand*
and satisfy the desires of every |living thing.
I will extol the Lord at |all times;*
his praise will always be |on my lips.
I sought the Lord, and he |answered me;*
he delivered me from |all my fears.
Those who look to him are |radiant;*
their faces are never cov|ered with shame.
This poor man called, and the Lord |heard him;*
he saved him out of all his |troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who |fear him,*
and he de|livers them.
Taste and see that the |Lord is good;*
blessed is the man who takes ref|uge in Him.
Glory be to the Father and |to the Son*
and to the Holy |Spirit;
as it was in the be|ginning,*
is now, and will be forever. |Amen
You o|pen your hand*
and satisfy the desires of every |living thing.

+ The Collect for the Day
P: Almighty and everlasting God, always more ready to hear than we to pray and always ready to give more than we either desire or deserve, pour down on us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us the things of which our conscience is afraid and giving us the good things we are not worthy to ask but through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
C: Amen
The Old Testament………………………………1 Kings 19:4-8
4 while he himself went a day’s journey into the desert. He came to a broom tree, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, LORD,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” 5 Then he lay down under the tree and fell asleep.
All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.” 6 He looked around, and there by his head was a cake of bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.
7 The angel of the LORD came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.” 8 So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.
The Epistle…………………………………….Ephesians 4:30-5:2
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
5 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
+ The Gradual
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowl|edge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond |tracing out!
For from him and through him and to him are |all things.
To him be the glory forever! |Amen
+ The Alleluia……………………………………………..pp. 164-165
+ The Gospel……………………………………………John 6:41-51
41 At this the Jews began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” 42 They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I came down from heaven’?”
43 “Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus answered. 44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me. 46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. 47 I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

+ Silent Prayer before Communion
1O Lord Jesus Christ, true and only High Priest, who on the altar of the cross has offered Yourself to Your heavenly Father as a ransom for us poor sinners, and as a memorial of Your sacrifice has instituted this Holy Sacrament, in which You give us Your body and Blood to eat and drink, with all my heart I beg of You, to grant that I, Your unworthy servant may celebrate this Sacrament with such devotion and fear as are acceptable to You. I know that on account of my sins and transgressions I am not worthy to approach Your altar, O Lord. But I know too, and acknowledge and confess, that You can make me worthy, O Lord, You who redeems and saves sinners. Deliver me from all unholy, vain, and hurtful thoughts, that I may serve you in humble faith. Take this heart of stone, and give me a heart of flesh, that I may love and serve You, and have all my joy in You. Reserve to me and all who approach this Holy table, this gracious gift of Your Body and Blood, that it may be to us the strength of body and soul, keeping us in the paths of righteousness, so that we may finally be permitted to see You face to face, and be admitted to Your great Communion on high, when You drink the fruit of the vine anew with all Your disciples in Your Father’s Kingdom.

God in His Mercy has delivered from this vale of tears our brother, Dave Zbinden, into the glory of life everlasting with Jesus Christ. Dave died to this life Thursday, August 24th at 3:25 p.m. Funeral Service will be Friday, September 1st, at 11:00 a.m. here at Risen Christ Lutheran Church” Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord”
At the August Voters Meeting our treasurer, Debby Jean reported that our cash reserves were getting low. (Around 3,800.00 dollars in the checking account!) This is the lowest we have been in three years. It is of course the summer time and historically offerings have tapered off during the summer, however if you are going to be gone could you please remember your offerings to the Lord. The work of ministry continues even when you are away. Thank you. Pastor Brennan
